Keeping Made to Measure Blinds Clean

Keeping blinds clean is important as it will help maintain the condition of the material and ensure that they last for longer. It also looks unattractive if blinds aren't clean and if the dust builds up on them. If blinds are dusty it can be a nightmare for people suffering from asthma and some other allergies as it can aggravate these conditions. Cleaning your blinds can be quick, easy and painless.

There are different ways to clean different types of blinds.

Roller Blinds

To clean your roller blinds you can start off by rolling them up and down a few times, this will disperse dust and it is the most simplest of all cleaning methods. You can also roll them down fully and use a duster to remove any surface residue.

You could try vacuuming them, simply roll the blinds down all the way and vacuum the fabric surface. When doing this, ensure that you are gentle with them as you don't want to damage the fabric, especially if your blinds are made of delicate materials.

Avoid using a damp cloth to clean your roller blinds as it can cause visible water marks and stains. If you need something stronger than a vacuum you could try using a sponge with warm water, this should get rid of stains and marks.

Venetian Blinds

Venetian Blinds are more manageable than roller blinds and cleaning them is fairly easy. You can clean your venetian blinds simply by using a damp cloth, this gets rid of any dust build up. You can also use washing up liquid as this will help get rid of any marks and stains. If you are looking to give them a really thorough clean you can place your blinds carefully in a bath and clean them. This method leaves your blinds with a very clean finish but you have to be careful as the blinds can become mis-shaped.

Roman Blinds

Roman blinds are delicate and you have to be careful when cleaning them, you can dry clean some roman blinds but you need to take lots of care. If you don't want to risk damaging your blinds you can gently vacuum them using the upholstery tool on your vacuum cleaner.

Aluminium Blinds

Because the surfaces of aluminium blinds are very smooth it is easy to dust these blinds. Dusting regularly will reduce the build of dust and dirt. The blinds can also be vacuumed by attaching the brush head.

If you want a more substantial clean, you can wash your blinds with a damp cloth or sponge.
