We have all noticed the way the most spectacular piece of art can be diminished by a weak choice of frame while even a somewhat pedestrian painting or print might be shown to greater effect when presented in the right frame. Similarly, the impact of an otherwise sensational ensemble may be compromised by an ill-advised accessory, while even a relatively simple outfit might be awarded some grace and flair if effectively set off against the appropriate jewelry, belt, bag or scarf. Too often women fail to take proper advantage of the ideal accessory or worse yet make poor choices which actually work against them. Here are a few basic suggestions when selecting ladies accessories.
## Resist the urge to play favourites.
Too often women possess a handful of cherished accessories with which they've fallen in love. This can, at times, cloud their judgement. There is an important difference to be recognized between the nicest earrings in one's jewelry case and the best earrings for a given ensemble.
## It is better to wear fewer accessories (or none at all) than imappropriate accessories.
It is maddening when you have a new posh dress and it is simply begging for the right necklace or scarf but none of your scarves or necklaces will do. Much better, at times, to go without instead of undermine your new frock with a poor choice. Better yet, if you've the time and inclination, to simply wear your frock and nip out to the shop and select the proper scarf or necklace for the job.
## Too much of a good thing.
If we are very lucky, we are occasionally faced with an embarrassment of riches; a new blouse for which you possess the ideal earrings, necklace, bracelets and pin. In is important to realise that one doesn't showcase a sensational ensemble by distracting the eye in five directions at once. Rather, one highlights it with a well considered accent. In the words of Coco Chanel "Before leaving the house, a lady should stop, look in the mirror, and remove one piece of jewellery."
## The ideal accessories have the power to connect you to your clothes.
The perfectly chosen accessory should complete an ensemble in much the same way a perfectly cast actress completes a movie scene. Context is so everything. A set of earrings or necklace, for example, should address not only the colour and cut of a woman's top, but also the tone of her skin, the tint of her eyes, the cut of her hair and the shape of her face. This is not always easy (or possible for that matter depending on the suitability of the top to the woman) but if achieved there's a certain synergy won where that ensemble on the woman in question is suddenly imbued with more flair than the sum of its parts.
If you're looking for the right ladies accessories to complete your next outfit. Do not merely rely on the neighbourhood shops. Go online and Google "ladies Accessories" or "ladies fashion footwear" or even "ladies knitwear (UK)" and see what is available. The right choice is hardly ever simple or quick but it is always worth the effort.
